2022 Qatar World Cup Will Be on Traditional Time With All matches in Qatar: FIFA President Sepp Blatter

ZURICH - Sepp Blatter, President FIFA, at last gave strong signals in favour of Qatar on the issue of 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup.

There were lot of suggestions about the winter world cup due to the concerns over the high temperatures in Gulf during June/July and few were asking to spread the world cup matches to the neighbouring countries.

In a recent interview to BBC Radio Five, Blatter confirmed that the event will be held on traditional time and all 64 matches will be played in Qatar only. He told further that everything has been settled and documents have been signed in the presence of Qatari delegation at FIFA House.

Blatter again supported FIFA for the decision of holding the voting for two world cups at the same time, but he assured that it will not be repeated in future.

AFC Asian Cup Final: Japan Snatches Record Fourth Asian Cup Title Beating Australia by 1-0

Doha, Qatar - Japan on Saturday won an unparalleled fourth Asian Cup title after beating Australia 1-0 in an extra-time of the final played in the Khalifa Stadium.

Substitute Tadanari Lee scored the only goal of the match for the Japan.

Although both sides played a cautious game, there were scoring opportunities throughout the match, with Japanese goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima pulling off a number of excellent saves.

Australian substitute Robbie Kruse nearly gave his side the lead in the first-half of extra-time with a header, but Kawashima did well to palm the ball away.

Japan coach Alberto Zaccheroni brought on Lee in the 98th minute for only his second appearance of the tournament, having previously played as a second-half substitute in Japan’s opening 1-1 draw against Jordan.

The Sanfrecce Hiroshima striker scored with a beautiful volley from a Yuto Nagatomo cross in the 119th minute to give his side their second triumph after 1992, 2000 and 2004.

AFC President Not in Favour of Spreading 2022 FIFA World Cup to Neighbouring Countries

Doha, Qatar - Mohamed bin Hammam, the President of Asian Football Confederation, is not agreed with the idea of spreading the 2022 FIFA World Cup through the neighbouring countries.

Mohamed bin Hammam said before the Asian Cup final Saturday that he didn't think any other country will have a part in the competition. He further added the impact of the mega event “will be huge” for the Gulf region as a result of increased tourism and infrastructure projects.

The proposal of Qatar sharing the World Cup was arrived from FIFA President Sepp Blatter just after few days of the Dec. 2 decision to send the 2022 tournament to the tiny emirate state Qatar. Spreading the tournament across the Gulf had also been supported by FIFA Vice President Michel Platini.

Exclusive Broadcasting Arrangements of AFC Asian Cup Final Using 51 Cameras

Doha, Qatar - Al Dawri & Al Kass, the host broadcasters, arranged the exclusive broadcasting of the Final of AFC Asian Cup 2011 between Japan and Australia using fifty one (51) cameras; set to captivate the worldwide television spectators of over 100 million through 40 broadcasters and a news distribution network comprising more than 600 television stations.

 

The Final is schedule to be kicked off at 1800 hours at the Khalifa Stadium will be first of its kind using the Fifty One cameras which will include seven superslomos, four ultraslomos, one spidercam, two helicopters and 16 EVS cameras. This platform will be linked to two OB vans.

Using Fifty One Camera will be an up heal task for the Director-Francois Lanaud, who has directed matches in all the FIFA World Cups since 1998.  The FIFA World Cup in South Africa 2010 used Thirty Three Cameras to broadcast the mega event while in 2006 FIFA World Cup only Twenty Six Cameras were used.

However, Indian Football expert, Arunavo Chaudhury, who is in Doha covering the Asian Cup, is not so upbeat about the number of Cameras used. He says “Anything above Twenty Cameras won’t make much difference to the viewers. Fifty One Cameras are simply too much for the Director to handle. It will make his job difficult”

Indeed Fifty One Cameras seems too much when a World Cup match can be viewed with Thirty Three Cameras very pleasingly. In fact, I-League broadcasters in India used just 6-8 cameras to telecast a match. Prize Money Announced For AFC Asian Cup 2015 Edition: Mohamed Bin Hammam

Doha, Qatar - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have never awarded cash prizes to any of the winners until now in the 15 Asian Cups, including the present 2011 edition.

But now Mohamed Bin Hammam, AFC president, has assured that prize money will be a new feature of the Asian Cup starting from the 2015 edition of the tournament.

In his statement Mohamed Bin Hammam said, “There will be prize money for which we are planning and I presume that in 2015, we can allocate US$10m (£6.3m) for the prize winners – first, second and third."

AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011 - - Japan vs. Qatar (Qarter-final): Japan Cruised into Semifinals Crushing Hosts' Hopes With 3-2

A last-minute Masahiko Inoha goal gave 10-man Japan a dramatic 3-2 victory over Qatar in a thrilling Asian Cup quarter-final on Friday.

Qatar twice went ahead through Sebastian Soria and Fabio Cesar Montezine, but Shinji Kagawa equalised on both occasions before Inoha's 90th minute strike secured victory for the three-time Asian Cup winners.

While Japan made three changes headlined by Eiji Kawashima's return from suspension, Qatar made just the one, with Mesaad Ali Al Hamad starting in place of the suspended Mohammed Kasola.

Qatar lost left-back Ibrahim Majid in the 11th minute to a hamstring injury, but were undettered by the setback and went ahead just a minute later.

The goal came when Sebastian Soria was inexplicably allowed to turn onto his left foot in the Japanese penalty area, before squeezing his shot past Eiji Kawashima for his first goal of the tournament.

Japan fought back in the 27th minute when Borussia Dortmund's Kagawa produced the equaliser.

A chip into the penalty area from Keisuke Honda set Shinji Okazaki free, who lofted the ball over the oncoming Qasem Burhan in the Qatar goal.

Okazaki's chip was headed for the back of the net but with the presence of Ali Al Hamad, Kagawa was required to bundle it home from the goal-line to level proceedings.

The lively Yousef Ahmad had a chance to put Qatar in front but dragged his shot wide, while Burhan made two good saves within a minute, denying Okazaki and Makoto Hasebe.

Japan came out with an attacking mindset after the interval, and Okazaki went close to scoring but his header flashed just wide, before Nagatomo's 20-yard strike was well saved by Burhan.

Qatar were given a boost after the hour mark following the dubious sending off of Japan's Maya Yoshida, who received his marching orders after a questionable second yellow card when he tried to tackle Ahmad.

Qatar deepened the wound when substitute Cesar Montezine scored from the resultant free-kick after a poor piece of goalkeeping from Kawashima.

Rather than pressing on and looking for a third goal, Qatar went on the defensive and allowed Japan time and space on the ball.

And they were quickly made to pay when Kagawa pounced on a ball that spilt on the edge of the box before sending a neat finish to equalise with 20 minutes to play.

Just as it seemed the match was heading for extra time, Inoha popped up to crush Qatar's hope of a first Asian Cup semi-final appearance, slotting the ball home into goal following Khaled Muftah's challenge on Kagawa.

Asian Cup Qatar - - The Host Sailed into Quarter-Finals With a Solid 3-0 Victory Over Kuwait

Hosts Qatar are through to the Asian Cup quarter-finals after finishing in second spot on the Group A table.

Bruno Metsu’s men produced a 3-0 victory over Kuwait to shore up qualification for the second phase of the competition.

Bilal Mohammed’s 11th minute header from a Sebastian Soria cross kicked off proceedings for the home side before Mohammed Al Sayed doubled their advantage five minutes later with a curling shot after picking up a loose ball following a strong Qatari move.

The victory was complete when Fabio Cesar Montezine added a third four minutes from regular time with a curling free-kick from just outside the area.

The win put Qatar on six points, one behind group leaders Uzbekistan, meaning they will play Group B winners, at this stage Japan, in the quarter-final on January 21.

Kuwait ended their campaign with three losses and finished with no points and a goal difference of minus 6, scoring just once.

Bruno Metsu's men were buoyed by a 2-0 win over China in their last outing and will now be seeking another three points against Kuwait to book their place in the knockout stages.

In the other game, Uzbekistan will look to protect their 100 per cent record when they come face-to-face with China, who can also still qualify provided they can win and the other result goes there way.
