10th Match: England Vs. New Zea Land - - Black Caps Advances To Semi Finals, England Faces A Shocking Defeat By Four Wickets


England were humiliated by New Zealand who won the last match of Group B in the ICC Champions Trophy here at the Wanderers Stadium on Tuesday.

After dismissing England for 146 runs in 43.1 overs, the Black Caps achieved the easy target in only 27.1 overs for the loss of six wickets and qualified for the semi-finals.

However, England are already in the semis despite this humiliating defeat.

Kiwi openers Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum provided a solid start by making 84 runs. Guptill scored 53 off 55 balls with seven fours and a six while McCullum made 48 from 39 balls with four fours and three sixes.


For England, fast-medium bowler Stuart Broad claimed four wickets for 39 runs while James Anderson and Ryan Sidebottom got one wicket each.

New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori won the toss and put England into bat in overcast conditions which were fully exploited by the Kiwi seamers.

England batsmen failed to make any big score and the entire team was bundled out for 146 runs in 43.1 overs against New Zealand in the last match of Group B in the ICC Champions Trophy here at the Wanderers Stadium on Tuesday.

Only four English batsmen could get into double figures as their captain Andrew Strauss was their only batsman to get a duck.

For New Zealand, Grant Elliott captured four for 31 and Sahne Bond grabbed three for 21 while Kyle Mills, Ian Butler and Vettori took one wicket each.

New Zealand have a chance to get into semis by defeating England who are already through to the semi-finals.

New Zealand brought in quick bowler Ian Butler for Daryl Tuffey, who has returned home with a broken hand. Opening batsman Jesse Ryder is also injured and New Zealand recalled Gareth Hopkins in his place.

England dropped fast bowler Graham Onions in favour of left-armer Ryan Sidebottom.
