Current Update - - 2nd ODI Australia Vs. England

25 overs Australia 103 for 3 (White 27*, Ferguson 6*) v England

Luke Wright wants the chance to show he can fill the shoes of Andrew Flintoff and he did more than a passing impression of a game-changing allrounder with a major impact on the second one-day international at Lord's. Firstly he plucked out a catch at short cover to break an opening stand of 62, then bounced out two batsmen during a fiery spell from the Pavilion End. Australia reached the halfway mark on 103 for 3, although Cameron White was starting to flow on 27 not out.

Australia had progressed solidly as the openers weathered early movement and it was England's change bowlers who shifted the momentum. Shane Watson was keen to open his shoulders and drove powerfully against Tim Bresnan - recalled to the side after Stuart Broad was ruled out injured with a sore neck - but his shot was intercepted by Wright as he held a two-handed catch in mid-air. The dismissal was further frustration for Watson, who has played confidently during this tour without converting into a major score.

Then it was Wright the bowler who took charge as Tim Paine pulled a short ball to deep midwicket where Eoin Morgan, playing as extra batting cover in place of Adil Rashid, steadied himself well under a spiralling catch. Wright and Bresnan were now in the groove, making scoring hard work, with Bresnan concentrating on swing and Wright banging the ball in.

Wright has added at least a yard of pace this season and it paid off with the key wicket of Michael Clarke. The Australia captain was undone by a short ball as he tried to pull and got a thin top-edge through to the tidy Matt Prior. A pumped-up Wright then nailed Callum Ferguson first ball with another sharp bouncer that thudded into the rib cage, but Ferguson and a confident White began the rebuilding work.

Australia might have thought they'd done the hard work after being put into bat. As was to be expected with a 10.15am start in September there was early swing for James Anderson and Ryan Sidebottom, but through a combination of good judgment and a little good fortune the openers survived. Paine found Sidebottom a particular challenge as he was cut in half by one that jagged back, then left another that flew over middle and off. However, he prospered against Anderson with a cut past point and a one-legged flicked to fine leg.

Watson continued the form he has shown since coming into the openers' role during the Ashes and punished anything slightly off line. However, he survived a huge leg before shout against Anderson on 5 - which replays showed was pretty straight - and could have departed for 6 when Paul Collingwood couldn't quite direct his kick into the stumps. There would have been bucket-loads of irony had Collingwood's football skills worked, given the storm created by Joe Denly's knee injury following a tackle in training and the fact that the squad watched last night's international at Wembley.

England 1 Andrew Strauss (capt), 2 Ravi Bopara, 3 Matt Prior (wk), 4 Owais Shah, 5 Paul Collingwood (capt), 6 Eoin Morgan, 7 Luke Wright, 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 Graeme Swann, 10 Ryan Sidebottom, 11 James Anderson

Australia 1 Shane Watson, 2 Tim Paine (wk), 3 Cameron White, 4 Michael Clarke (capt), 5 Callum Ferguson, 6 Mike Hussey, 7 James Hopes, 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Brett Lee, 10 Nathan Hauritz, 11 Nathan Bracken
