First Bangladeshi to Play County Cricket - - All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan Joins Worcestershire

DHAKA, Nov 18 - All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will become the first Bangladeshi to play county cricket in England after he agreed to join Worcestershire in 2010.

"Shakib will fulfil the county's overseas slot upon completion of the Bangladesh tour to England in mid July 2010," the club announced in a statement on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old, who tops the ICC all-rounders' ranking list, has scored 2047 runs at an average of 35.91 in 75 one-dayers for Bangladesh, while taking 83 wickets. In 14 tests, he has amassed 715 runs and taken 48 wickets.

"I consider it a huge honour to be the first Bangladeshi overseas player in county cricket and can't wait to give my all for the club on the field," Shakib said in the statement.

"As an all-rounder I am thrilled and inspired to be joining the team once graced by Ian Botham, Imran Khan and Kapil Dev."
