LPGA's Final Event of The Season At The Rees Jones Designed Houstonian Golf Club in Houston

The LPGA plays its final event of the season this week when the LPGA Tour Championship is played at the Rees Jones designed Houstonian Golf Club in Houston.

The ADT Money List title has been all but secured by the rookie Ji Yai Shin but there is still much to play for more this week including the Rolex Player of the Year title. Ji Yai Shin, Lorena Ochoa and Cristie Kerr are in line for that prestigious honour although Ochoa and Kerr will need great weeks and a little help from Shin if either were to stop Shin taking the Rookie of the year and Player of the Year titles. If Shin holds them off she would become the first since Nancy Lopez 31 years ago to win both titles in the one year.

For those at the other end of the money list, the chance to secure their playing rights for 2010 is also a key incentive this week. The top 90 will secure full playing rights for 2010 and therefore several in this field still have work to do just to ensure they can plan their schedules next year.

The field is made up of the top 120 available players from the ADT money list with the field cut to 70 at the completion of 36 holes and cut again to 30 after 54 holes.

Tournament favourites are likely to be Shin and Ochoa but having broken through for her first win last week there will be much interest as to whether the floodgates have opened for Michelle Wie now that she has that all important maiden win behind her.

Australians in the field include Karrie Webb, Lindsey Wright, Katherine Hull, Wendy Doolan, Rachel Hetherington, Sarah Kemp, Anna Rawson and Sarah Jane Kemp. Hetherington, Rawson, Smith and Doolan are all in need of a big week if they are to have full status in 2010.
