Australian Open - - Serena Williams in to Quarters After Beating Samantha Stosur From Australia

MELBOURNE: Serena Williams has advanced to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, beating local hope Samantha Stosur 6-4, 6-2.

The win was Williams' third in four meetings with Stosur, although the Australian won in California the last time the two met last year.

Williams broke Stosur in the opening game of the second set Monday. The American faced two break points in her next service game, but fought back to deuce with an ace and a service winner, then served another ace on game point.

Stosur set up break point in the seventh game with a double fault, then Williams hit a forehand winner to go up 5-2, then held serve in the next game to take the match.

Williams is seeking her fourth Australian Open singles title. She could play her sister, Venus, in the semi-finals.
