2010 FIFA World Cup, South Africa - - Dunga's 23-Men Final Squad of Brazil Ready to Take Up The Challenges

Five-time world champion Brazil is now preparing for the world cup football 2010. Coach Dunga recently named 23-men final Brazil squad along with 7 reserve players. The reserve players will be called up in case of injury problems. The tournament begins on 11 June in South Africa.

The notable exclusions are AC Milan duo Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato, and Adriano, while 2-match experienced striker Grafite’s inclusion is surprising. Ronaldinho, however, has been named among the reserve players. There are 3 goalkeepers, 8 defenders, 8 midfielders and 4 strikers in the 23-member squad.

Inter Milan’s Júlio César will be Dunga’s first choice goalkeeper in world cup. There are four centre backs in Lúcio, Juan, Luisão and Thiago Silva, while Maicon and Dani Alves have been included for the right back position. Dunga has included two left backs: Gilberto and Bastos.

In the midfield, there are 3 attacking midfielders in Kaka, Baptista and Elano, while Felipe Melo, Gilberto Silva and Josué are there for defensive role in the midfield. Moreover, Dunga has Ramires and Kléberson to deploy in the centre of the midfield. Four forwards included in the squad are Luis Fabiano, Robinho, Nilmar and Grafite.

Only 3 out of the 23 players are from Brazilian league. There are 8 players who currently play in Italian Serie A.
