India Tours South Africa 2010-11: Test 1 (Day 5) - - India Lost by an Innings and 25 Runs Despite a Historical Knock By Sachin Tendulkar

India lost 1st test against South Africa at SuperSport Park, Centurion by an innings and 25 runs; despite a heroic and historical knock by Sachin Tendulkar who stood unbeaten on Nelson (111). In the process, little master achieved a historical landmark of 'Half Century of the Centuries'; being the first in the history to touch the such peak of excellence.

The match will not be remembered long for the big defeat for India being number one in the ICC test ranking; but it will be remembered for the the brilliance of history maker: Sachin Tendulkar.

In the match VVS Laxman, Suresh Raina and the last three were unable to touch the double figure; but all other including skipper MS Dhoni played very well to build a strong fight back after a mammoth first innings trail of 584 runs. With a solid opening stand of 137 runs with top three players among the runs and Dhoni-Tendulkar batting confidently on total of 449; once it was looking that India will manage to take the match towards a draw but experienced Dale Styen made life difficult for Indians when he took the wicket of skipper MS Dhoni (90). After Dhoni last three wickets just managed to add 10 runs leaving India 1-0 down in the three-match series.

Pace bowling was the deciding factor in the match where Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel claimed seven wickets each in the match. Especially the young Morne Morkel made the hell for Indian batsmen in the first innings taking 5 wickets for just 20 runs. In the second innings of India, veteran Dale Steyn came into action using his experience and accurate line & length leaving Indians no option other than to take their way to pavilion in regular intervals.
