Pakistan Tours New Zealnd 2010-11 - - First Test (Day 3): Pakistan Comes Out with 10-Wicket Victory As Kiwi's Skipper Suffereing From Serious Sickness

Pakistan's left-arm spin-and-fast bowling attack of Abdur Rehman and Wahad Riaz shattered the New Zealand second innings and set up a 10-wicket victory inside three days in the first cricket Test here Sunday.

New Zealand's second innings batting lasted just less than 39 overs as they were rolled for 110 leaving Pakistan a mere 19 runs for victory which was achieved in 22 balls.

However, black caps played this test under the uncertain situation about the health of their skipper Daniel Vettori. Vettori looked a shadow of himself in the field in Hamilton, as rumours about his health threatened to outshine the first Test against Pakistan.

New Zealand Cricket has denied ideas that captain Daniel Vettori could be suffering from a serious disease despite feeling lazy and sluggish for quite a few days.

Kiwi team manager Dave Currie later confirmed that he was awaiting the results of a recent blood test, but played down concerns about the seriousness of it.

“He’s well enough that he’s played today. The health team aren’t sure what the problem is so he’s had some blood tests and we will get the results back in a couple of days,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Vettori, as saying.

“He’s got a bit of a fever and is feeling fluey. It’s gone on a couple of days, but he’s battling on for the team,” he added.
