AUCKLAND, New Zealand – Pakistan lost the 6th and final ODI of the series by 57 runs but enjoy the series win by 3-2 after a long time.
Pakistan won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat that proved to be a disastrous decision at the end. Jesse Ryder, who unfortunately run out in the 5th ODI without facing a single ball, was in a killing mood and punished Pakistani bowlers all over the park. His blistering knock of 107 off 93 balls helped Black Caps cross the huge 300-mark in 50 overs. New Zealand made 311/7 to challenge Pakistan.
Martin Guptill and Jesse Ryder added valuable 124 runs in the second wicket partnership. Martin Guptill played a good knock of 44 off 75 balls. Among other Kiwi batsmen Scott Styris and Nathan McCullum were significant with their runs contribution of 58 (44) and 65 (50).
Muhammad Hafeez, Abdul Razzaq picked up two wickets each; while Shoaib Akhtar and Sohail Tanveer shared a piece each.
Pakistan crumbled early on by losing top three batsmen on just 58 on the board. Kamran Akmal tried to rescue Pakistan; but no other batman provided him a valuable company. Kamran Akmal scored 89 off 84 balls. In the lower order Shahid Afridi (44) and Sohail Tanveer (30) batted to some positive effect but never threatened New Zealand to achieve the target of 312. Pakistan were all out for 254 falling short of 57 runs.
From New Zealand young bowler Hamish Bannet picked up four wickets and James Franklin took three.
Jesse Ryder named as man of the match for his winning knock of 107.
