Primera La Liga season 2011: Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo Making and Breaking Historical Records

The Real Madrid winger, Cristiano Ronaldo, is all set to enter in the Primera Liga record books for breaking and making new records in the current La Liga season.

Cristiano Ronaldo has taken his goals tally to 36 in La Liga this season after scoring four goals against Sevilla at the weekend and added a hat-trick in last night's 4-0 victory over Getafe. 

Ronaldo is five goals ahead from his nearest challenger Lionel Messi of Barcelona, who have three games left this season compared to two for Madrid, in the race to win the Pichichi trophy for leading scorer.

Following is the list of records just away from Cristiano Ronaldo:

1.      Single Season Top-scorer: Ronaldo is just three goals away from breaking this historical record of 38 goals set by Athletic Bilbao striker Telmo Zarra in 1950/51 and equalled by Madrid's Hugo Sanchez in 1989/90. Ronaldo has two matches to break this record.

2.      Leading Madrid Scorer in single Season: Cristinao Ronaldo has already broken the record of maximum goals scored in all competitions of single season set by Ferenc Puskas in the 1959/60 campaign. Ronaldo has scored 49 goals in comparison to legendary Puskas’ 47 goals.
