Thomas Wayne Rooney, Father of Man United Star, Arrested by Police in Steve Jennings match Betting Scam



LIVERPOOL – Police has arrested the father of Manchester United Star Wayne Rooney’s father in an alleged match fixing scandal. His 54-year-old uncle, Richie, is also reportedly among the 9 men arrested on account of betting scam on a Scottish Premier League football match.

According to details available, as police is hesitating to name to suspect openly, the 48-year-old (Thomas) Wayne Rooney senior was detained at his home in the West Derby area of Liverpool. There were also uncertain reports that the Rooney’s brother John was involved for investigating by police.

England soccer star Wayne Rooney, who plays for Manchester United, has not been drawn in in the match fixing probe.

The investigation surrounds specifically a Scottish Premier League match between Motherwell and Hearts on Dec. 14; therefore one of the Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings is also among the 9 suspects arrested by police.

Furthermore, the investigation focuses on an incident in which Jennings was sent out, after getting a red card, with eight minutes remaining of the game.
