Earlier England won the toss and elected to bat first in the opener of 3-match series today at Dubai Sports Complex (DSC), Dubai.

England captain Andrew Strauss told Nasser Hussain that England will play with tree seamers and one spinner - Tremlett is in. Strauss touches upon patience as the most important virtue for his batsmen on slow and low tracks. He expects Pakistan's good form to pose his side with a very real challenge.

Pakistan’s captain Misbah said, “We are playing two spinners. Umar Gul and Aizaz Cheema are the pacers. I am enjoying captaining the side. England are the top side in Tests and it is a Test for all of us. UAE is like home and we have played here for a long time. We know the conditions well.”
