The Pakistan Cricket Board today dropped an inquiry against controversial pacer Shoaib Akhtar for criticising the national team management on a television talk show in violation of his central contract.
PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt today said since Shoaib had apologised for his "mistake" in appearing on the show without permission of the board, he has decided to close the matter.
"It was nice of him to accept his mistake and we don't want this issue to linger on any longer. So we have closed this chapter," Butt said.
Shoaib had appeared on a talk show in July in which he criticised the team management for giving out a confidential medical report about his skin infection which had eventually led to his ouster from the Twenty20 World Cup squad in May.
