Barclays Premier League Kicks Off Today (Saturday/August 13) - - Live Score Updates and Schedule of Matches for 13/14th August

The English Premier League kicks off its 20th season on Saturday (August 13) after the long summer break.

Barclays Premier League Schedule - - August 13/14

This season is likely to be tight at both ends of the table. Six teams have realistic chances of grasping silverware. Another six look to struggle with the threat of relegation. Loaded with star power and buoyed by another year of incredible transfer spending, the Premiership looks to be a dogfight with few predictable winners and losers.

There is nothing deceptive about the obvious fact that United look like winners but they will be pushed hard by a resurgent trio. Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City all have points to prove and all are under serious pressure to deliver. Still nine out of 10 pundits are tipping Manchester United to retain the crown and why bookmakers will quote you generous odds on anyone but Ferguson getting to grips with the trophy next May.

Riots, violence and civil unrest in and around Tottenham began last weekend and quickly spread to other areas of the capital and other major cities across UK that forced the postponement of the Premier League opener between Tottenham Spurs and Everton but the Premier League has now confirmed that the other eight Barclays Premier League fixtures are set to go ahead as scheduled in first week.

The schedule of other eight matches is given above in the image.
