French Open 2012 (Women's Final Preview): Maria Sharapova vs Sara Errani -- Live Streaming and Updates

PARIS, France (Sat, Jun 09) – Newly crowned world number one Maria Sharapova will face Italy's Sara Errani, who entered the tournament ranked No. 21 in the world, but cruised into finals beating two former champions at Roland Garros, along with two top 10 players.

French Open 2012 (Women's Final): Maria Sharapova vs Sara Errani -- Live Streaming and Updates

Number 21 seed Sara Errani has wins over Casey Dellacqua, Melanie Oudin, #13 Ana Ivanovic, #26 Svetlana Kuznetsova, and #10 Angelique Kerber in the quarterfinals. Errani also beat #6 Samantha Stosur in the semifinals.

Sharapova beat Petra Kvitova, ranked fourth, in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals to claim the top spot and confirmed her berth the finals. This is Sharapova's first appearance in the finals at Roland Garros. Though she has won grand slam titles on other courts, she has struggled on the clay surface.

Sharapova hasn’t won a grand slam since the 2008 Australian Open; but she has the titles of Australian, Wimbledon, and U.S. Opens on her credit.

Both the finalists are 25 years old and both were raised to play tennis in the state of Florida at a young age, leaving their native homes to hunt commendation in the sport they had been gifted in from birth.

Sharapova and Errani have never played before; therefore, it will take some time to figure each other out but expect a war of erosion. Expect three sets with multiple game points, possibly even match points. Most of all, expect the winner to explode in joy when the match is over.

This tournament has been exciting for both Errani and Sharapova. And the winner deserves all the admiration she will get.

Pakistan v England (1st ODI) -- Tough test ahead for England

ABU DHABI, UAE (Feb. 13) – Pakistan are ready to take on England in the first of the 4-match ODI series today here at Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan v England (1st ODI) -- Tough test ahead for England

In the current series, the Pakistan’s squad for the four ODIs against England is a very balanced one with the right blend of fine batsmen, quality all-rounders and world class bowlers. While Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq bring their experience into play in the middle order, Pakistan also have talented youngsters like Imran Farhat, Asad Shafiq, Umar Akmal and Azhar Ali.

The presence of all-rounders like Mohammad Hafeez, Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik provides the added strength to both batting and the bowling departments.

Although England has been thrashed by Pakistan in the Test series but the presence of youngsters like Craig Kieswetter, Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow promises to add some freshness to the English batting, which has loads of difficulties in facing quality spin attack from Pakistan during Test series.

Pak v SL (5th ODI) -- Final Showdown Without Shahid Afridi and Mahela Jayawardene

ABU DHABI, UAE (Nov. 23) – Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka in the final One Day International (ODI) of 5-match series today at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Pakistan has an unassailable 3-1 lead in the one-day series with the fifth and final match to be played today (Wednesday, Nov. 23). With the last victory Pakistan has improved their ODI ranking to fifth spot.

Shahid Afridi Picked up Mahela Jayawardene in 4th ODI
The last match is crucial in the sense that to maintain the fifth position in international ODI ranking Pakistan have to win the last match and if Pakistan lose the match they will slip to the sixth spot.

Fourth ODI proved to be all-Afridi match as he played a brilliant innings of 75 runs and then crushed Sri Lankan batting line-up with some superb bowling. He claimed 5 wickets in this match. Only 15 players have scored more than 50 runs and claimed 5 or more wickets in the same ODI match; but Shahid Afridi is the only one who has done it twice.

Stuart Broad Played a Key Knock to Save England a Complete Sink as India Grips the Second Test

NOTTINGHAM - - Second test between India and England enters into second day with the domination of Indian bowlers on the day one. India has to force back to level the series after a humiliating loss at Lord’s in the series opener, which happened to be the 2000th test in the history of cricket.

Stuart Broad Played a Key Knock to Save England a Complete Sink

India was trailing by 197 runs with 9 wickets in hand and two experienced players, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid were batting on 13 and 7 respectively. Young opener Abhinav Mukund fell early to James Anderson without disturbing the scorers.

Earlier on the day one; India won the toss and MS Dhoni, after having a close look to the pitch, decided to invite the hosts to bat first which proved a good decision and all the English side sent back to pavilion on just 224 with Stuart Broad topping the batting list with his defiant 64-run innings. Andrew Strauss (32), Ian Bell (31) and Kevin Piertersen (29) were other significant batsmen from England.

India v England: Second Test to Start Today (Friday/July 29) - - Will India Bounce Back Yet Again ..??

NOTTINGHAM - - It was a historical 2000th test match played between India and England at Lord’s Cricket Ground and concluded on July 25th with a humiliating 196-run defeat to India. The big defeat by the hands of England has certainly dented the reputation of India, which is ranked number one in test ranking followed by South Africa and England respectively.

India v England (2nd Test): MS Dhoni and Andrew Strauss Face to Face Again at Nottingham

India captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni confirmed that premier fast bowler Zaheer Khan who had injured his hamstring in the Lord's Test, will not participate in the second match of the series against England starting in Nottingham on Friday.

S Sreesanth who did not take part in the historic first Test at the home of cricket is likely to be the replacement for the injured Zaheer.

Now the question arises; will India bounce back to level the series in the second test scheduled to be started on Friday (July 29) at Nottingham?

Indian prospects to bounce back look quite miserable in the absence of ace fast bowler Zaheer Khan and star batsman Gautam Gambhir due to injuries. On the other hand the psychological impact of big crash in first test is not very conducive for India to fight back strongly in the second test match against very formidable and threatening looking English cricket team.

India’s house on the other hand is not in order. Several top players are not in the best of their health and two important players are all but out of the team for the second test match that is commencing today at Nottingham.

French Open 2011 (Men's Single Final) Roger Federer v Rafael Nadal
PARIS — No two men have met in a Grand Slam final as often as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, but there were times that it seemed it might not happen again.

Roger Federer takes on world number one Rafael Nadal on Sunday in the French Open final in the latest installment of their classic rivalry.

Well, it’s the ultimate showdown, a tennis fan would love to see and the world is in uproar – its World No. 1 Rafael Nadal up against the World No. 3 Roger Federer, in the final of the 2011 French Open. This time, both will lock horns on a familiar territory – Roland Garros after a while. Actually, last time these two took on each other in a Grand Slam title match was two years back in 2009 Australian Open final. So, after a two-year lull, these two finest players of the modern tennis are ready to resume their coveted rivalry for a fourth time in Paris and eighth time in a Major final.

This will be the 25th meeting between the two, when they will take on each other for the Roland Garros title on Sunday. Interestingly, Nadal and Djokovic had already faced each other four times in championships matches in the new season. And, just when it looked that no one can stop Djokovic from winning the French Open title this year, Federer reaffirmed his supremacy by snapping his 41 matches winning streak – in the new season.

February 6, 2011

PERTH, Australia – In the 7th and final ODI Australia managed to set a target of 280 after winning the toss and electing to bat.

It was really a brave recovery from Australia led by David Hussey and Adam Voges. After winning the toss on a good pitch Australia decide to bat first, but the Aussie openers got off to a slow start. Brad Haddin and Cameron White couldn’t handle the pressure created by England bowlers, maintaining their tight line and extracting bounce from the batting surface, and thrown their wickets cheaply.

David Hussey and Adam Voges stepped into a good partnership of brilliant 95 run for the fifth wicket. In the mean while; Voges also went past his 2nd ODI fifty was unbeaten on 80 (72) and Australia managed to score 48 runs in the Batting PP to reach 279/7.

England did not help their cause in terms of bowling 30 extras, which included 19 wide balls. It will be a challenging target to achieve for the England. James Anderson picked up three wickets; while Liam Plunkett and Michael Yardy claimed two wickets each.

On the other side England is still hunting for the form they have exhibited in test series.

Australians are performing like a unit, every player is contributing. Skipper Michael ClarkeMichael Clarke‘s comeback into his form is a good call.

CHRISTCURCH: The third One Day International (ODI) between New Zealand and Pakistan is scheduled to be played on Saturday at the AMI stadium, Christchurch.

New Zealand have a 1-0 lead in the series and Pakistan are still in the hunt of a series leveller as the washed out second game of the six-match series wooed their hopes of making a comeback.

Before the rain interruption at Queenstown, the Pakistani openers put up a good show in the face of bowling-friendly conditions. Ahmed Shehzad in particular made Tim Southee look like an ordinary bowler after his heroics in the first match and the hat-trick in the T20I at Auckland.

The start to the series has been a typical Pakistani one. They rose up to the expectations and gave the world of cricket a glimpse of their stumbling capabilities yet again.

The batting line-ups of both the teams are fragile, having the tendency to collapse like a house of cards. The Kiwi batsmen in this series, however, seem to have learned their lessons as they have looked like a resolute unit against the Pakistani bowlers ever since the start of the tour except that one collapse in the second innings of the first Test match, at Hamilton, that cost them the series.

The men in green on the other hand have a lot to think about. Except for the Test series, their batting form in the T20 series and the one ODI so far has been deplorable except for the consistent skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq.

New Zealand are continuing with their rotation policy and in the third match they are going to make considerable changes, Jesse Ryder and James Franklyn both have been rested, they will return to play for their domestic side, Jamie How, and, Luke Woodcock are going to replace them.

After the explosive innings of Jesse Ryder upfront in the first match, Jamie How, is going to open the batting with Martin Guptill, which makes things a little ambiguous about the roles of the two.

Being the senior of the two, Guptill, will have the immense responsibility to attack as well as keep the innings together for the team.

In another shocker the authorities have also decided to rest Daniel Vettori in this match and Ross Taylor will take the leading role, Kyle Mills, is likely to make a comeback.

Ross Taylor might toss the new ball in Hamish Bennett’s hands tomorrow in the absence of James Franklyn. His ability to hit the deck hard and extract bounce from the pitch along with good pace might well prove lethal for the vulnerable Pakistani upper order.

As far as this venue is concerned the Kiwis have an excellent record here winning three of every four matches they have played at the AMI stadium, Pakistan have lost all except one. The toss is going to be important as the teams batting second have a clear advantage but it is still unclear as to how the pitch and more importantly the ball is going to behave under floodlights.

There are chances of a few showers on the big day so we can only hope that we get to see a complete and uninterrupted competition.
