Pakistan to Take on Zimbabwe in Second Twenty20 International Today

HARARE, Zimbabwe (Sept. 18) - Second Twenty20 International between Pakistan and Zimbabwe will be played today here at Harare Sports Club. Pakistan is unbeaten in this tournament winning lone test, three ODIs and the first T20 match.

Zimbabwe desperately looking for a victory and will try their hearts out to win today’s match while Pakistan will be looking to complete the tour as ‘invincible’. 

Match is scheduled to begin at 14:00 local time (17:00/5:00 pm PST) and 12:00 GMT at Harare Sports Club, Harare.

Umar Gul Named Man of The Match in the Victory Against Zimbabwe

KANDY – Pakistan overcome the Pallekele fear beating Zimbabwe by 7 wickets in a rain-effected match. 

Pakistan had to chase 162 in 38 overs, an adjusted target according to Duckworth-Lewis method due to unexpected stoppages caused by heavy rain.

Asad Shafiq, replacing injured Umar Akmal, played beautifully and calmly for his masterly crafted unbeaten 78 to led Pakistan to an easy victory with almost 4 overs to spare. Muhammad Hafeez also played a handy knock of 49 runs.

Earlier, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat. Pakistani pacers extracted help from early moisture from the pitch and never let Zimbabwe batsmen to get in control. Umar Gul, especially, bowled brilliantly and picked up three important wickets in quite quick succession.

KANDY – Pakistan is going along quite well against Zimbabwe when the heavy rain interrupted the match at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy.

Abdul Razzaq struck in the very first over picking up Brendan Taylor on the fifth ball. Reggis Chakabva couldn’t last very long too and fell in the next over to Umar Gul, leaving Zimbabwe struggling on just 5 runs on the board. Tatenda Taibu (19), Vusi Sibanda (5) and Gregory Lamb (16) fell cheaply to Wahab Riaz, Umar Gula and Shahid Afridi respectively.

When rain interrupted the match Craig Ervine was batting on 48 and Elton Chigumbura accompanying him on 3 runs with 96/5 on the board in 27.2 overs.

Earlier, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first.

Zimabawe to bat first in Group A Encounter against Pakistan

KANDY – Zimbabwe has won the toss and chose to bat first here at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy. 

Pakistan has not very good memories associated with the venue ‘Pallekele’, where they lost their first match of the World Cup 2011 against New Zealand by a huge margin of 110 runs on last Tuesday (March 8).

Today they are set to play their 5^th match of the World Cup against Zimbabwe on the same venue. Before today’s match both teams have been face to face 40 times and Pakistan has emerged victorious in 36 while one match has been tied and one fetched no result.

Unpredictable Pakistan Will See Zimbabwe in Group A Match Tomorrow

KANDY – Pakistan has not very good memories associated with the venue ‘Pallekele’, where they lost their first match of the World Cup against New Zealand by a huge margin of 110 runs on last Tuesday (March 8).

But they have to play again on the same venue against Zimbabwe tomorrow. Zimbabwe has won only once in this world cup and that was against Canada; while Pakistan has lost their only match against New Zealand out of four they have played. But the attribute of ‘unpredictable’ associated with Pakistan is the biggest threat for themselves as well as for their opponents.

Tillakaratne Dilshan shines with ball and bat in the victory against Zimbabwe

KANDY – Zimbabwe after showing a brave fight in the start fell short of 139 runs to huge target of 328 set by Sri Lanka. Brendon Taylor and Regis Chakabva provided a solid start 116 runs; but the middle-order and lower order couldn’t able to take the same spirit.

Actually the day totally belongs to Tillakaratne Dilshan. First he dominated the Zimbabwe by the bat and then with the ball claiming 4 wickets. Muttiah Muralitharan also picked up three wickets.

Earlier, Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan set a new first wicket partnership record in the world cups. This is first ever first wicket double century partnership for Sri Lanka.

PALLEKELE – Sri Lanka off to a flying start mashing 24 in first two overs at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Tillakaratne Dilshan on the swing here and in furious mood.

March 04: Match Summary - New Zealand Sailed Through 10-wicket Victory Against Zimbabwe

AHMEDABAD – New Zealand cruised into 10-wicket victory against Zimbabwe. Kiwi’s crossed the target of 162 without losing any wicket in just 33.3 overs. Martin Guptill (86) and Brendon McCullum (76) hammered Zimbabwean bowlers all around the park and showed no mercy for the bowlers.

Earlier, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first in 18^th match of the World Cup and 10^th match of Group ‘A’. The batting collapse started with the run out of Coventry and Zimbabwe kept on losing wicket with regular intervals. The small resistance came from Brendan Taylor (44), Prosper Utseya (36), Graeme Cremer (22), and Lamb (18).

Cricket World Cup 2011 - Feb. 28: West Indies and Zimbabwe Registered Easy Wins Against Weak Opponents

NEW DELHI – West Indies thrashed Netherlands by huge margin of 215 in Group ‘B’ match here on Monday (Feb. 28) at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi.

West Indies totally dominated an inexperienced opposition in both of the innings; first with the bat piling up might total of 330 and then with the ball getting opposition out for paltry 115.

Earlier, Netherlands won the toss and invited West Indies to bat first. Openers, veteran Chris Gayle and Devon Smith, provided a solid stand of 100 runs. Devon Smith fell on 53 while Chris Gayle (80) kept on punishing Dutch bowlers. First five batsmen contributed with good scores to help West Indies past 300 marks. Kieron Pollard proved to be the maser blaster of West Indies innings smashing 60 runs off just 24 balls. Pieter Seelaar was the most successful bowler from Netherlands picking up 3 wickets; while Muassar Bukhari claimed two.

NAGPUR – Zimbabwe thrashed Canada by huge margin of 175 in Group ‘A’ match here on Monday (Feb. 28).

Zimbabwe totally dominated the relatively inexperienced opposition in both of the innings; first with the bat piling up might total of 298 and then with the ball getting opposition out for paltry 123.

Earlier, Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat first. Openers perished very early but Tatenda Taibu and Craig Ervine played handsomely and helped piling up 298 for their side. Taibu fell just two short of his century and named man of the match while Ervine made 85.

Bangladesh Vs. Zimbabwe (2nd ODI) - - Series Level As Bangaldesh Ease into Victory by 6 Wickets, Razzak and Shakib Shine With The Ball

Dhaka (Friday, December 3, 2010): Brilliance in bowling by Captain Shakib Al Hasan and Abdur Razzak helped Bangladesh t o level the five match series with 1-1. 

Bangladesh just consumed 39 overs and four balls to reach the meager target of 192 with 6 wickets intact. Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique and Raqibul Hasan batted outstandingly well to negate the repetition of the 1st ODI episode. They scored 44, 53 and 65 respectively to push Zimbabwean on the back foot after they won the thrilling 1st ODI on Wednesday. 

But pick of the day was outstanding bowling by Spinner Abdur Razzak and captain Shakib Al Hasan who took 5 and 4 wickets respectively. They never let Zimbabwean to settle and set a challenging total. Craig Ervine was the top scorer from Zimbabwe with 40 runs off 41 balls. Small contributions came from Regis Chakabva, Keith Dabengwa, Tatenda Taibu and Prosper Utseya with 21, 30, 21 and 32 runs respectively. 

Bangladesh will face the visitors on Monday (December 6) for the 3rd ODI at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
