Red Bull Driver Sebastian Vettel Determined to Deliver Again in Formula 1 Title Fight in Brazilian Grand Prix

SAO PAULO - Sebastian Vettel is ready to deliver again Sunday in Brazil in his effort to steal the Formula One world title from Jenson Button.

The Red Bull driver Vettel said in an interview with German Press Agency DPA that he will not throw in the towel on the home stretch of the season.

“I have nothing to lose and will attack. Jenson is getting a bit weaker, maybe that is our chance,” said Vettel.

“It is my aim and my dream to win the Formula One championship. I will fight until the end and not give up. Kimi showed us two years ago what is possible.”

Vettel was referring to Finnish Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen, who made up a 17-point deficit on McLaren-Mercedes man Lewis Hamilton of Britain in the last two races to win the 2007 title.

The Briton Button leads his Brazilian Brawn GP teammate Rubens Barrichello by 14 points (85-71), with Vettel another two points behind on 69 heading into Sunday’s Brazil race and the November 1 season-ender in Abu Dhabi.

Button won five of the first seven season races but has not topped the podium in the following eight races. Barrichello has one season win while Vettel won for the third time in 2009 in the last race on October 4 in Japan.

Button will clinch the title if he finishes third in the case of a Barrichello victory and by coming fifth if Vettel wins again. First place is worth 10 points.

While Vettel refrained from psychological warfare his team boss Christian Horner said that “he (Button) can lose everything and he will not be able to get that out of his mind.”

Record champion Michael Schumacher is keeping his fingers crossed for Vettel.

“He still has the chance to win the title. This alone is already a big success. I am sure he will make everything possible to show a good performance in the next two races,” Schumacher said on his website Monday.

“Mathematically everything is still possible, and I will keep my fingers crossed for him.”

Vettel said he hopes that teammate Mark Webber can help him by finishing between him and the Brawns, but he also admitted that the Red Bulls will have no real advantage over their rivals in Sao Paulo.

“I am only looking at our team. I will do my thing and then we will see,” said Vettel.
