Bayern Munich wins 2-1 in first leg of quarterfinals: Manchester United's Wayne Rooney scored an early goal, then limped off with an ankle injury in a 2-1 loss to host Bayern Munich of Germany on Tuesday in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Rooney hurt his right ankle when Bayern's Mario Gomez challenged him for the ball near the final whistle. His injury will be evaluated Wednesday. Manchester United, which leads the English Premier League by a point, plays second-place Chelsea on Saturday.

Rooney scored in the second minute, but Franck Ribery tied the score in the 77th minute. Ivica Olic scored the winner in injury time after stealing the ball from Patrice Evra.
The second leg of the home-and-home, total-goals series is April 7 in Manchester.
"We caused our own defeat, really," Man U manager Alex Ferguson said. "We should have played better. We kept giving it away, and it causes your own downfall."
In the day's other Champions League match, Lisandro Lopez scored twice and Michel Bastos had a goal to lead Lyon over visiting Bordeaux 3-1 in a meeting of teams from France.
On Wednesday, Arsenal of England hosts Barcelona of Spain and CSKA Moscow of Russia is at Inter Milan of Italy.
