One more Akmal to get chance in Pakistan cricket team due to Zulqarnain Haider’s mysterious decision of leaving Pakistan team for some unexplained reasons. Adnan Akmal, the elder brother of Umar Akmal and younger brother of Kamran Akmal, has been called into national cricket team after wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider went England, abandoning Pakistan South Africa series in UAE, Geo News reported Tuesday.
Adnan Akmal debuted in season 2003/04 and since then played for different teams including Agriculture Development Bank of Pakistan, Lahore Lions, Multan, North of Pakistan, Pakistan Cricket Board Blues, Pakistan Under-17s, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited. Records show that Adnan Akma’s performance in first class career can’t be termed as extraordinary in any means. He has scored 2392 runs in 115 innings of 72 matches; averaging just below 23. In his first class career; he has made two (2) centuries and eight (8) half centuries. Behind the wickets he has record that supports, somehow, his selection for the ongoing series against South Africa. He has taken 263 catches and stamped six player during his first class career spread over of seven years.

According to PCB sources, team management asked national team’s selectors for replacement of Zualqarnain Haider, following which Adnan Akmal has been given green signal to join Pakistan team in Dubai.
Adnan Akmal was busy in Rawalpindi playing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy tournament. PCB has directed him to immediately report in Lahore to ready the necessary documents to travel to UAE.
He may be granted Test cap in first Test match against South Africa to be played in Dubai.
