Hot favorite Pakistan lost the final match of Hong Kong Cricket Sixes 2010 at the Kowloon Cricket Club on Sunday. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat. With a brilliant 92 runs knock by Ahmed Shahzad Pakistan piled up a huge total of 132 runs. He consumed only 28 balls for his superb knock. He has to comeback after getting mandatory retirement after he opened the innings and got blistering 34 runs. But other Pakistani batsmen failed to deliver and lost their wickets on successive intervals.
Ahmed Shahzad came again and charged almost every bowler of Australia until he got out on the last ball of Pakistan innings; but up till then the damage was done and Australia has to chase a huge target of 133 runs with an average of more than 26 runs per over.
Australia came out to bat with their captain David Warner with a smashing form. He immediately started to rain boundaries all over the park; but after his mandatory retirement Pakistan controlled the situation and required run rate started to climb up. In the process Maxwell also had to get retired, then young Carter took the charge; but Australia was way away from the victory theoretically at that point of time.
The final match went to the last over with Australia requiring 44 runs for a well-fought victory. Captain Shoaib Malik handed over the ball to Imran Nazir to bowl the last over. He lost his rhythm altogether and vivid bowling, with lots of illegal deliveries in shape of wide and no balls, helped Australia to reach the target sparing one ball. Australia won the match on the second last ball of the innings with two wickets in hand.
