If I would ask you, in context with the second Ashes Test at, to fill in the blanks in the following sentence:
Three ___________ in three _______________ just for two ______________.
No one, who know the abc of cricket would be able to fill in these blanks with the proper words; especially the Australian fan.
Yes, it sound impossible but it’s happening in Adelaide, where the second test started with a bang, completing the sense of above sentence as:
Three WICKETS in three OVERS just for two RUNS. This is the start of Australian innings in the second test at Adelaide. One more interesting point to be discussed here that Australian opener Simon Katich out without disturbing the scorers at all. What? It doesn’t sounds like any thing interesting, right..?? But what if I would tell you Simon Katich lost his wicket without even disturbing the bowlers.
Highlights of Australia v England - 2nd Test – Day 1
England trailing by 244 runs at stumps of the first day of 2nd test of Ashes serires 2010-11; courtesy to brilliant bowling and some outstanding fielding claiming two run outs. First few overs were might be the toughest time for Australians in the recent history. It never sounds nice when you lose three top-order batsmen for just 3 on the board.
Ricky Ponting and Simon Katich fell in the first over of the match as a result of some excellence in the James Anderson bowling and Trott’s fielding. Shane Watson and Michael Hussey tried hard to negate the dominance of English bowlers and succeeded to some extent; but James Anderson struck again to give another shock to Aussies and Shane Watson had to go back to pavilion on just after completing his half century. Australians were 96/4 that time.
Michael Hussey stood firm and joined hands with Marcus North, who ran along nicely Tea Break, before being trapped by Steven Finn on 26 runs at 156/5. Brad Haddin and Hussey gave a good partnership stand of 51 runs before Graeme Swann took his first wicket, Michael Hussey, of the match when Austrian score was 207.
After Michael Hussey; no resistance was shown by tail-enders and four wickets fell after one another by adding just 38 more runs. Brad Haddin played good inning of 56 runs and was the last man out for a total of 245 in the 86th overs of the match.
England had to survive for just one over and they did it with just one run on the board and Alastair Cook & Andrew Strauss on the crease without opening their accounts. The only run for England was a leg-bye.
