A Delhi court has sentenced six HuJI men to life imprisonment for plotting to kidnap cricket icons Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly in 2002.
The Delhi court has sentenced 6 Huji men including 3 Pakistanis to life imprisonment for plotting to kidnap Indian cricket stars Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly in 2002.
They were also planned to attack assassinate former President A P J Abdul Kalam and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. The 3 convicts from Pakistan are Tariq Mohammed, Arshad Khan and Ashfaq Ahmed. Besides them, three Indians — Mufti Israr, Ghulam Qadir Bhatt and Ghulam Mohd Dar — were also held guilty in the case.
The police had alleged that the convicts wanted to secure the release of two HuJI terrorists Nasarullah Langrial and Abdul Rahim, now in jail.
