Pakistan set a quite tough target of 294 (avg. 5.88/over) for New Zealand after starting quite low in the beginning of the innings. Muhammad Hafeez took the responsibility and scored impressive 115 (144), happened to be his first in ODI career.
Blazing batting exhibition from Pakistan in the death overs especially in the batting powerplay from 42nd to 47th over in which they scored 72 runs with more than 14 runs per over. Pkaitsn scored 110 runs in the last 15 overs taking score from 183 to 293.
After Misbah and Hafeez; skipper Afridi and Umar Akamal took the charge and smashed the Kiwi bowlers all over the ground. Leading from the front Afridi completed his half century in just 19 balls before Umar Akamal bowled out on 44 off 29 balls. Afridi was caught by Brendon McCullum on 65 off just 25 balls with 288 on the board for Pakistan.
