Brief Preview of Pakistan-New Zealand Match Today at Kandy, Sri Lanka

KANDY - Pakistan cricket team, the most unpredictable outfit in the world of cricket, is scheduled to face New Zealand today in 13th match of Group ‘A’ at Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Shoaib Akhtar, aka Pindi Express, and left-arm spinner Abdul Rehman were rested in the last match against Canada; but it is now reported that they will play tomorrow replacing Wahab Riaz and Saeed Ajmal.

Pakistan’s batting still posing threat due to the vulnerability but with Skipper Shahid Afridi on swing with the ball and the pace duo of Shoaib Akhtar and Umar Gul chipping in with the early breakthroughs, Pakistan look capable of defending even meagre totals, like they did against Canada in the last match at Colombo.
Pakistan have enjoyed consecutive victories against Kenya, Sri Lanka and Canada with skipper Shahid Afridi starring in all of them with the ball; but they habitually tend to complacent in such situations which might affect their World Cup run.

On the other side, New Zealand convincingly beat Kenya and Zimbabwe but toppled in the only true test of their form, going down to Australia by seven wickets.

Despite former captain John Wright taking over the coaching straps, their top order, including Brendon McCullum, Martin Guptill, Jesse Ryder and Ross Taylor looks off-coloured at times.

Their bowling does not really create panic, as well, among the elite teams either and that would make New Zealand's job particularly difficult against a Pakistan side which defeat them in a home series just before the World Cup.
