Sania-Vasina Pair Cruises into Quarter-final in French Open 2011 (Women's Double)
PARIS – Although Sania Mirza’s French Open runs in women’s singles couldn’t reach ahead of second round but she is making good progress in Women’s double with her Russian partner Elena Vasina.

Sania-Vasina duo reached French Open women’s double quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez and Anabel Medina Garrigues on Sunday.

The victory wasn’t easy at all against 11th seeded pair as Indo-Russian duo had to save 10 break points while they broke the opponent pair’s serve 5 times out of 10 opportunities in two sets.

The Indo-Russian pair now has an even harder test ahead of them in the quarterfinals when they will be up against the top seeds Argentinean Gisela Dulko and Flavia Pennetta from Italy.

This is also the Indian's best performance since Wimbledon 2008 when Sania Mirza had reached the quarterfinals with American partner Bathanie Mattek.
