WIMBLEDON, July 2 –Eighth seed Petra Kvitova from Czech Republic outplayed Russian tennis ace Maria Sharapova to win the 2011 Wimbledon tennis championship at All England Club on today (Saturday/July 2).
The 21-year-old Petra Kvitova beats title favourite in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to win her first Grand Slam title in the final of the match..
Kvitova became the first left-hander female tennis player to win the Wimbledon title since Martina Navratilova’s Wimbledon triumph in 1990. Martina Navratilova, childhood inspiration of Petra Kvitova, was also present the Royal Box on Centre Court.
