NAZARE, Portugal – Garrett McNamara, big wave rider from Hawaii, recently set a new world record for the largest wave ever surfed.

McNamara caught a 90-ft wave off the coast of Praia do Norte in Nazaré, Portugal during the ZON North Canyon Project 2011.
His fellows, Andrew Cotton and Al Mennie, said, “It was amazing. Most people would be scared, but Garrett was controlling everything in the critical part of the wave. It was an inspiring ride by an inspiring surfer.”
