Netherland got three penalty corners in the 4th, 17th and 23rd minutes. In the 3rd penalty corner Netherland succeeded to score their first goal of the match. Wouter Jolie's hit was too strong to be stopped by New Zeland goal keeper; who tried his best to stop the ball but it went on the roof of the net after deflection from goal keeper's hand.

At the end of the first half Dutch were leading the score with 1-0.
