Australia, the Olympic bronze medallists, downed 3-2 by England on Sunday, burst out of the blocks and found themselves ahead as early as the second minute.
De Young was on target with his second bite of the cherry after his original stinging volley crashed against the crossbar, leaving India, who topped Pool B after the first round of matches, courtesy of their 4-1 win over Pakistan, shell-shocked.
Things got better for Australia, just seven minutes later when Turner notched his first of the day, making no mistake with a clinical drag-flick from a penalty corner.
Just before the half-hour mark, De Young and Robert Hammond combined nicely to tee up Abbott while India gave themselves a lifeline when Vikram Pillay netted just nine seconds before the half-time interval.
Australia were just as ruthless after the break however, and restored their three-goal lead when Doerner slammed the ball home from a penalty corner.
And just two minutes later it was five when Turner bagged his second of the match to rub salt into India's wounds.
The hosts did pull another goal back through Rajpal Singh after fine work from Arjun Halappa on 53 minutes and while Jamie Dwyer, who scored twice against England, missed a penalty stroke with four minutes to go, Australia cruised to victory.
