Pakistan Tours New Zealnd 2010-11 - - Warm-up Twenty20 Against Auckland: Five-wickets Loss is a Wakeup Call for Pakistan

The result of Twenty20 warm-up match against Auckland revealed that how stiff the New Zealand tour will be for Pakistan. Auckland thrashed Pakistan convincingly by five wickets.


From the very first over Pakistan went in to deep trouble in the very first over at Colin Maiden Park after losing two wickets and third was down with just seven on the board. Pakistan bowled out in 17.5 overs making only 90 runs with Umar Akmal, Umar Gul, Younis Khan and Abdul Razzaq scoring 25, 19, 18 and 16 respectively.   

Auckland reached its winning target in only 13.2 overs, led by New Zealand opening batsman Martin Guptill who made an unbeaten 28. Saeed Akmal took 2 for 20 and Shoaib Akhtar 2-31.

Auckland left-armer Michael Bates ended with 4-11 from three overs while left-arm spinner Roneel Hira continued his impressive form from the domestic competition with 2-21 from four.

Pakistan meets New Zealand in the first of three Twenty20 internationals in Auckland on Sunday.
