Australia v England (5th ODI) Brisbane: Australia Won The 5th ODI and Took The Unchallenged 4-1 Lead in the Series

Brisbane, Australia – In the fifth ODI of Commonwealth Bank Series Australia snatches a victory from the hands of England by 51 runs. It was all combined team effort from Aussies. First their batsmen took the score to a reasonable level that proved more than enough to challenges English batting line-up; then Australian bowlers did quite marvellous job by curtailing English batsmen on just 198. With this victory Australia won the series by claiming four wins in five matches.



Australian bowlers led by aggressive Brett Lee turned the game in their favour after the double blow claimed by Lee. First three wickets fell on just 22 runs on the board; but Kevin Pieterson (40) accompanied by Ian Bell (36) managed a healthy partnership of 73 runs. Then Hastings and Steve Smith strike thrice to claim the wicket of KP and Eion Morgan by Hastings and Ian Bell fell prey to Steve Smith on the total of 103/6 in 25.4 overs.

Then the tail-enders were never look comfortable against Aussies bowling attack and got out by adding 95 more; with the exception of Steven Finn and James Anderson who showed lot of resistance until it was all over by Shane Watson taking the wicket of Steven Finn (35). James Anderson was not out on 20.    

Brett Lee, Doug Bollinger, and John Hastings bowled impressively and took two wickets each; while Shane Watson took three wickets.

Earlier Australia made 249 all-out in 49.3 overs, leaving England to score with 5 runs per over to narrow the series lead with 3-2.

In Australian innings wickets fell in the regular intervals never that never let Australia to play freely, losing top three batsmen within hundred scores on the board. Brad Haddin scored 37 while Shane Watson and Shaun Marsh scored 16 each. Michael Clarke and David Hussey in the damage repairing spirit just managed to do a bit of it with 54 and 34 respectively. 

From England Chris Woakes claimed six wickets haul; while Paul Collingwood and Steven Finn and James Anderson shared a piece each.
