India v South Africa (5th ODI) Final Update: India Lost The Match and The Series With 3-2 Despite a Brilliant Knock by Yusuf Pathan

India lost the 5th ODI by 33 runs under D/W method and also lost the series with 3-2. Deadly fast bowling by Proteas bowler never allowed Indian batsmen to recover and play confidently. 


It was all over when the late order resistance lead by Yusuf Pathan came to an end on 219 runs in the 36th over. Pathan played brilliant knock of 105 off 70 balls; but couldn’t change the fate of the match. Last wicket of Zaheer Khan took by L Tsotsobe.

Earlier, South African innings disturbed heavily by the delay caused by rain; but lethal exhibition of fast bowling from South African bowlers covered the damage done by rain with their accurate line & length.

Opener Parthiv Patel was the only resistance from top-six batsmen with his smashing 38 off 34 balls. The damage started with the wicket of Rohit Sharma who fell prey to L Tsotsobe on the total score of 21. India kept on losing important wickets with regular intervals and started to feel the heat on 60/5 after 12 overs.

Morne Morkel claimed four wickets including Patel, Kohli, Dhoni and most important of them all Yusuf Pathan. Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina forced to play shots that only find fielder on the way. Dale Steyn took Raina and Yuvraj on 8 and 11 runs respectively.

Then spinners came into action when Johan Botha and Peterson trapped Harbajan Singh and Piyush Chawla very cheaply.
