South Africa v India (5th ODI) Updates: Rain Delay Proved Deadly for South Africa

South Africa set a target of 251/9 in 46 overs with an average of 5.46 runs per over.

Match started again after the rain but with a bad news for South Africa the allotted quota of cutting short of overs to 46.

That made Proteas to do something quickly to set a reasonable target to threaten Indian strong batting line-up. In this line of action JP Duminy lost his wicket in the very first over, after play resumed. of Munaf Patel. He got out catch & bowled after having wonderful partnership of 100 off just 97 balls with Hashim Amla.

After Duminy, Faf du Plessis, comes to crease but couldn't manage to live long and falls Munaf Patel on the second ball of the 45th over. He scored only 8 runs off 6 balls. Munaf patel struck again with a gap of just two deliveries to claim the wicket of JohanJohan Botha out for just 2 off 2 caught by wicketkeeper MS Dhoni. Botha was the third victim to Munaf Patels good line and length.

Robin PetersonRobin Peterson falls to Zaheer KhanZaheer Khan in the 46th over; happened to be the last over of South African innings due to rain-short four overs innings. Ball was right in the block hole to strike to stumps of Peterson. An ideal ball to bowl at the death overs. Dale SteynDale Steyn got run out on the very next ball. Morne MorkelMorne Morkel survived despite a good delivery from Zaheer Khan; but trying to rotate the strike to Hashim Amla he got himself soft run out by Dhoni. In the last over they lost three wickets for just one run.

The pick of the South African innings was definitely an unbeaten innings of Hashim Amla. He scored brilliant 116 off 132.

Zaheer Khan, and Yuvraj SinghYuvraj Singh claimed two wickets each; while Munaf Patel took three wickets.

Overall, it was all collapse for South Africa after the delay caused by rain.
