LAHORE - Muhammad Aamir and Salman Butt have left to Doha (Qatar) to hear the final verdict by ICC on the spot-fixing case. They flew from Allama Iqbal Airport Lahore today amid thousands of fans and friends praying for their beloved cricket heroes.
Michael Beloff will read the final judgment of an independent anti-corruption tribunal on Saturday. Experts and analysts are of the view that much more will be at stake on Saturday than just three careers.
The tainted trio, Muhammad Aamir, Muhammad Asif and former captain Salman Butt, face career-threatening bans if they are found guilty of so-called 'spot-fixing' during Pakistan's test series in England last year. All three have consistently denied wrongdoing. A British Sunday newspaper report alleged that they had taken bribes to arrange for deliberate no-balls to be delivered at pre-agreed times in the fourth test at Lord's for the benefit of gamblers.
