2nd Test (Day-4): Pakistan Vs. Australia - - Australia Posted An Unbelievable Victory; As Pakistan Batting Crumbled in Hunting for 176 Runs

Nathan Hauritz steered Australia towards a unbelievable 36-run victory over Pakistan on Day 4 of the second Test, at the SCG, on Wednesday.

The off-spinner achieved figures of 5-53 in the second innings, including a killing caught and bowled to send Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf back to pavilion, as the visitors were sacked for 139, hunting mere 176 for victory.

It was the Hauritz's second five-wicket haul in successive Tests against Pakistan.

In the morning session, Australia, who trailed by 206 runs on the first innings, were dismissed for 381 in their second innings when Doug Bollinger was the last man out.

They started their remaining second innings on Wednesday on 286 for 8, a lead of only 80. But man-of-the-match Michael Hussey hit a scintillating 134, his 11th Test century, and contributed a ninth-wicket partnership of 123 with tail-ender Peter Siddle (38) to give their bowlers something to bowl on.

This partnership beat the 83-run stand between Bob Massie and John Watkins for Australia's ninth wicket against Pakistan in Sydney 37 years ago.

Pakistan launched a strong hunt, reaching 3-77, before Hauritz claimed two wickets in three balls.

He grabbed a killing catch on his own bowling on the straight drive of Muhammad Yousuf; then trapped Misbah-ul Haq for a duck two balls later to raise Australia's hopes of victory.

In an effort to step up the pace of their run-chase, the Pakistanis lost wickets on regular intervals. Their only hope Umar Akmal missed a half-century and an opportunity to take Pakistan through to a historical victory when he was caught by Mitchell Johnson (3-27) off Bollinger.

After that the last two wickets fell in a space of two balls and Australia posted a superb victory.

The hosts have an unchallengeable 2-0 lead going into the third and final Test in Hobart, which starts on January 14.
