Tiger Woods on twitter again. Woods actually created the account back in June 2009, but it seems he's ready to start using it regularly. On Wednesday morning, the pro golfer sent out a tweet reading, “What’s up everyone. Finally decided to try out twitter!” If he's half as proficient in 140 characters as he is from 140 yards, he should be a worthwhile follow.
The Tiger of Golf arena is currently busy in Australian masters; having not a very good time with his swings; but at last Woods best round of JBWere Australian Masters came in the end. The world number two smashed two eagles to grab the fourth spot of the leader board.
The final round of the JBWere Australian Masters was in progress at Victoria Golf Club, Melbourne when Woods decided to kick some dust. Tiger aimed his fourth shot for a par at the first hole, but the shot rolled beyond the pin and first bogey was carved at the scorecard. To counter the early blow, the 34-year-old smashed an approach at the right. The ball plunged over the greenside bunker and the ball dropped right into the hole, enchanting the fans.
World number two followed the defence with five successive pars, missing putts at the sixth and seventh. The player sand wedged the eight and reached the green in three, but missed the birdie putt and instead cast a bogey to bring the score down to one-over. To get rid of the blemish, Woods smashed a driver at the par-5 ninth and reached the green in two. Making use of his Nike putter, Woods rolled a magnificent birdie right into the hole. The player came out of the front nine without any damage.
The crowd cheered, while Tiger walked past the ninth green to take his turn on the back nine. Following the trend from the previous round, Woods parred the first three holes and followed it with a birdie at the 13th. Another power shot was in the pipeline, but the dark-skinned golfer rolled a 22-foot birdie on the left, which ultimately missed the cup.
Disgusted at his loss, the roaring Tiger proceeded towards the 15th. In first three rounds, Tiger could only manage to par the par-5 hole, but this time the defending champion drove the ball onto the green. In brink of an eye, the crowd was roaring at the massive eagle that had chipped in the pin.
A wide smile covered the face of the champion. Just then, another birdie rolled onto the green of the 17th pushing the veteran into the fifth place of the leader board. Harmonizing his swings, Tiger smashed a 330-yard drive at the 18th fairway. The ball reached the target with the next approach aimed downhill. To seal the event Tiger bent his knees and fired an eagle putt at the left. The ball plunged into air, right into the flag to carve the second eagle of the day.
After a laudatory handshake from Allenby, Woods took a bow at the crowd and walked towards the clubhouse. After recovering the long lost form, Tiger told the press, "That would have been nice. Unfortunately; I missed a short one at 1 and short one at 8. That certainly did not help at all."
Woods wrapped the PGA tour without a victory, but regained the charm. He will compete for the Chevron World Challenge on December 2nd at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California. The event will mark the year 2010 close for the veteran.
Commenting on his plans, Woods said, "I'm pretty excited about it. Some of the things I am working on are starting to jell. Unfortunately, not for the entire round -- they are sporadic. I need to do some work when I get back home with swing coach Sean Foley."
The JBWere event concluded with Stuart Appleby in the lead and Tiger Woods on the fourth spot. The tournament offered $250,000 to the winner. However, what the world's richest athlete received was far greater than the cash amount; he received appreciation from the golf fraternity, love from the Australian crowd and confidence for the next year.
Tiger might have lost all the titles this year, but he is back on his feet to regain his throne.
