DOHA—About 120 fans from isolated North Korea turned up to cheer on their side at the crunch Asian Cup showdown between the communist country and Iraq on Wednesday.
The supporters, who appeared to be all men and wore mostly white shirts and ties, were seated together in one isolated block of the Al-Rayyan Stadium for the crucial clash, which North Korea needed to win to get to the last eight.
The fans, who had several blue, white and red North Korea flags, were in place more than an hour before the kick-off, with one man standing facing them to direct the chanting.
