The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction for the season 4 was higher and better than the past editions of the glitzy cricketing event. There was a vast pool of players to select from since the squads were redistributed because of the two new teams, the Sahara Pune Warriors and the Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
With the addition of two new teams; now ten teams will be competing for the ultimate title of IPL Champions.
Indian cricketrs continued to rule the IPL auction process, as the top seven most heavily bid players belonged to India. Gautam Gambhir topped the list with whopping 2.4 million USD by Kolkata Knight Riders, followed by Yusuf Pathan and Robin Uthappa at 2.1 each. Mahela Jayawardene, the centurion of the World Cup final, was the most expensive overseas player, brought in to lead the side by Kochi for 1.5 million.
