PARIS, France (May 25) - Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, who has already moved to second round in women’s singles, and her Russian partner Elena Vasina sailed through to the 2nd round of the women's doubles event at the French Open on Tuesday (May 24).

The seventh seed Sania-Vasina pair beat the Russian duo of Vera Dushevina and Ekaterina Makarova 7-6(2), 6-2 in one hour and 33 minutes at the Roland Garros.
Sania Mirza and Elena Vasina, irrespective of the apparently easy looking scores, had to go through some hard patches in the first set as it went into a tie-break with the Indo-Russian combination later overcoming it in 55 minutes.
Sania Mirza and her companion, however, totally controlled the second set and broke the all-Russian pair twice out of five chances to clinch the victory in the match.
