National Twenty20 Championship: From June 24 - June 30 in Faisalabad |
FAISALABAD, Pakistan – National Twenty20 Championship is scheduled to be started in Faisalabad; but the row between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and former ODI Captain Shahid Afridi can wilt the excitement of the thrilling championship. The National Twenty20 Championship is one of the most popular domestic event in Pakistan as it is televised live and also attracts huge crowds.
The National Twenty20 Championship will start on June 24 and last on June 30; but few more star players have not confirmed their presence already due to their engagement with Friends Life T20 in England.
Presently star Pakistani all-rounder Abdul Razzaq is playing for Leicestershire while left-arm pacer Wahab Riaz has recently joined the Kent side and has already played a winning knock for his team to be named as man of the match. Meanwhile, off-spinner Saeed Ajmal (Worcestershire), young talent Junaid Khan (Lancashire) and seasoned fast-bowler Umar Gul (Sussex) are also set to join their counties shortly.
Shahid Afridi was named captain of the Karachi Dolphins and reportedly the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) has also written to the PCB, seeking written clearance to allow Afridi to lead their team in the tournament.
A well-placed PCB source has claimed that it has been decided to permit Shahid Afridi to lead the Karachi Dolphins side in the tournament despite the continuing disciplinary process against him.
