At last Frenchman Samir Nasri completed switching over from Arsenal to Manchester City today in a deal worth around £24 million.
Samir Nasri's Transfer from Arsenal to Manchester City Completed Today |
The 24-year-old Nasri is likely to be part of Roberto Mancini's side in Premier League’s Sunday fixture against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. Reportedly, he will be wearing shirt with No. 19.
Samir Nasri was part of Wenger’s side in second Premier League match against Liverpool that they lost 2-0 at home.
Nasri has refused long back to extend his contract, due to end in summer 2012, with the Gunners turning down the £90,000-a-week offer from Arsenal. If he would have accepted the offer; he would be the highest paid player for Arsenal; but he preferred a better chance of winning trophies in Manchester.
Nasri became part of the Gunners back in 2008 from Marseille and, after two inconsistent seasons, was perhaps their best player during 2010-11, scoring 15 goals and performing well enough to earn a spot in the Premier League Team of the Season.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is expected to use the cash generated from the sales of Nasri and Cesc Fabregas to bolster his side's midfield, having admitted they look light in that department.
However, he has stopped short of guaranteeing he will make a purchase, adding the caveat that he has already signed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gervinho, both of whom can operate in Nasri's position on the left of a three-man attack.
The Gunners' financial health also hinges on whether they can make it through a Champions League qualifier against Udinese on Wednesday. A depleted Arsenal side heads to Italy aiming to protect a one-goal lead.
