Retaliation again came through master blaster Sachin Tendulkar; after an early collapse of top three batsmen for just 27 runs on the board. Sachin Tendulkar is batting on 22 off 19 balls smashing 5 boundaries, while VVS Laxman is batting on 6 after 20 overs of the Indian Innings.
As expected, with the Centurion wicket providing lot of help to the opening bowlers, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel trapped the top three Indian batsmen with superb quick bowling supported equally by their fields’ men. With stunning bowling stats of 7 overs, 4 maiden, four runs for two wickets; Morne Morkel emerged as the pick of the South African bowlers. Virender Sehwag fell to a careless stroke, Gautam Gambhir was set up beautifully with a series of short balls before he fell to the full ball outside off. Rahul Dravid looked quite good, but got a good one that stayed a bit low to trap him in front. Sachin Tendulkar has decided to be positive and has already played a few classic boundaries - which signalled his aggressive intentions.
India needs a strong and long partnership from two experienced guys on the pitch to get a formidable total to challenge strong batting line up of South Africa, with Hashim Amla in a real tremendous form.
