KARACHI: Pakistani players Mansoor Zaman and Yasir Butt recorded straight set triumphs in the first qualifying round of international Sport group British Open - Manchester 2009 and secured their places in the qualifying finals of $92,500 PSA World Tour Super Series squash event at the Northern Club in Manchester.
World no 49 Mansoor Zaman found local Alex Bowden an easy opponent to zap and recorded a formidable 11-2, 11-4, 11-3 win in only 25 minutes.
Lahore based Yasir Butt ranked 48th in the world circuit, also reduced the local interest in the qualifying finals thrashing local Lewis Walters registering a convincing 11-5, 11-3, 11-5 win in 31 minutes.
However, Dubai based Pakistani player Khwaja Adil Maqbool fall in the first qualifying round losing his match to French Renan Lavigne, who recorded a 11-9, 13-11, 11-6 win.
Pakistan have two of its top players - Aamir Atlas Khan and Farhan Mehboob in the main rounds of the prestigious event.
