After the recent Asian Games in Guangzhou, China; I started to collect the information and data regarding all Asian Games from 1951 to 2010. Few days back; I've presented here my last article about the basic information about Asian Games from 1951-2010. The interest shown by the visitors forced me to further drill down the interesting facts and figures of Asian Games from the inception in 1951 to the 16th Asian Games.
Brief History of Asian Games:
Aisad, an official name for the Asian games, is a multi-sport event held every four years and athletes from all over the Asia compete for their respective countries’ pride. After the break up of the Asian Games Federation (AGF); the games organization was taken over by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) since 1986. But from 1951 to 1982 the Asian Games were organized by the Asian Games Federation (AGF).
The Asian Games are accepted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games.
Thailand has the honour to host Asian Games four times, more than any other nation. Latest Asian Games in Guangzhou were second to be hosted by China after hosting 11th Asian Games in Beijing. In its history, only nine nations have hosted the Asian Games. India has also honour of hosting two Asian Games events. One of them is a record which made for never to be broken is the hosting of first ever Asian Games in 1951 in New Delhi. New Delhi was also honoured to host the 9th Asian Games second time in 1982.
