Brazil striker Neymar was racially abused in an international friendly tie between Brazil and Scotland

LONDON – In an international friendly tie between Brazil and Scotland in London; Brazil striker Neymar was racially abused by the crowd on Sunday.

Neymar, talking to Brazilian television channel Sportv, told that he was abused while he was going to take a penalty in 77th minute of the match. In Brazil’s 2-0 victory against Scotland, Neymar scored both the goals.

The Sportv reported further that a banana was thrown at Neymar toward the end of the second half from a segment of the Emirates Stadium crowd mostly occupied by Brazil fans.

Brazil coach Mano Menezes and Scotland's Craig Levein both said they did not see the incident.

The act of banana throwing at black players along with racist slogan spoiled football during the 1970s and '80s. It has mostly been wiped out at high-profile matches but still occurs rarely, especially in Eastern Europe.

Former Brazil fullback Roberto Carlos was lately abused with a banana throwing by a Zenit St. Petersburg fan.
